The story of Christ the King Church
Early Christian Witness in Kulithalai
Kulithalai, in the Cauvery region of present-day Karur District, has a long history of Christian witness. Christian mission in the area goes back to the late nineteenth century, when early Christian workers and local believers helped to establish a community of faith. Over time, worship and fellowship took root among families in Kulithalai and the surrounding villages.
Development of the Congregation
As the Christian community grew, the need for an organised congregation and a dedicated place of worship became increasingly important. The church’s development was supported by local families, church workers and ministers, who helped to sustain worship, nurture faith and strengthen fellowship. Successive generations worked to maintain and develop the congregation.
Pastoral Ministry and Congregational Organisation
Church ministry and its organisation in the region continued to develop. On 1 April 1977, the Kulithalai–Musiri church work was organised as a separate ministry unit, marking an important stage in the administration and pastoral care of congregations in the area. The church continued to serve through worship, prayer, pastoral care and community fellowship.
Church Facilities and Community Life
The congregation also worked to improve its church facilities and to provide space for worship and ministry. Through the years, members have contributed to the upkeep and development of the church, while ministers and church workers have encouraged participation in worship and congregational activities. The church remains a place where families gather for prayer, fellowship and Christian teaching.
Ministers and Leadership
Several ministers served the congregation and its wider church work, alongside others whose service contributed to the life of the church.
A Continuing Witness of Faith
Christ the King Church, Kulithalai, stands as a testimony to the faith and perseverance of the Christian community in the region. Through generations of worshippers, ministers and church workers, the congregation has continued its commitment to worship, fellowship and service, preserving its Christian witness for the generations to come.
“Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords.”
