The story of Christ the Lord Church

Location and Early Congregational Life

Christ the Lord Church is situated in Musiri, on the northern bank of the River Cauvery, in the Tiruchirappalli region of Tamil Nadu. The congregation has had links with nearby Christian communities, including Irungalur, and its history reflects the gradual development of regular worship and pastoral care in Musiri.

Development of the Church and Pastorate

Church ministry in the area was organised in important stages during the late 1960s and the 1970s. In 1968, worship and pastoral ministry in Musiri were connected with the Irungalur congregation. Further developments followed during the 1970s, including changes in the organisation of neighbouring congregations and the provision of more regular pastoral oversight. These developments helped to establish a stronger foundation for the continuing Christian community in Musiri.

A Permanent Place of Worship

A significant milestone in the congregation’s development was the establishment and dedication of church facilities. The date 27 January 1980 was an important one in the development of the church building and its worship life. The church continued to grow through the participation of local families, the ministry of successive pastors and the support of the wider church community.

Pastoral Leadership Through the Years

Successive ministers and church leaders have served the Musiri congregation from the 1980s onwards.

Community and Continuing Ministry

The congregation’s ministry has included worship, pastoral care and community fellowship. Local families and church members have supported the church’s activities and facilities. The pastorate continues its witness through the faith and service of its congregation and church workers.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess.”
Hebrews 10:23
