The story of St. Emmanuel Church
The story of St. Emmanuel Church is bound up with the growth of the industrial and residential community around BHEL. Christians from different parts of Tamil Nadu sought a place where they could worship, nurture fellowship and provide a spiritual home for their families.
A Community Takes Shape
BHEL was established in the region in 1963, and Christian workers came to the area from different places. Their need for regular worship and fellowship encouraged the formation and growth of a church community.
Securing Land and Building the Church
Efforts to secure land for a church building were made in 1978. The land was acquired in February 1979, and a church building was then built and dedicated. It was a significant achievement, made possible by the determination and cooperation of the congregation.
Christian Education and Care for Children
The congregation has also cared for children’s Christian formation and learning, including Sunday School and educational support. These ministries reflect the conviction that the church is called to nurture young people in faith and to contribute to the well-being of families.
A Continuing Mission
With gratitude for the generations who helped to establish and strengthen the church, St. Emmanuel Church continues its calling to worship God, build fellowship and serve the wider community. Its story is one of faith made visible through shared effort and care for others.
“We are labourers together with God.”
