The story of St. James Church
St. James Church, Annamangalam, stands as a witness to more than a century of Christian faith, worship and service. Its history reflects the growth of the Church in the region through the dedication of clergy and congregations, the development of church facilities and the continuing commitment of successive generations of worshippers.
Early Beginnings
St. James Church was established at Annamangalam on 11 January 1905. Its early development was associated with the ministry and efforts of church workers serving in the Tiruchirappalli region. Land and ministry activities connected with Annamangalam and nearby localities formed part of the wider work to strengthen Christian worship and education in the area.
Growth of the Church and Community
As the congregation grew, the church developed its facilities to support worship and community life. Elementary educational institutions were also established in Annamangalam and neighbouring areas, reflecting the close relationship between the Church’s spiritual mission and its concern for education.
Continuing Ministry
Today, St. James Church, Annamangalam, continues its ministry through worship, fellowship and service to the community. Its history honours the faith and labour of those who established and sustained the congregation, while encouraging present and future generations to carry forward the church’s witness with hope and devotion.
“Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
