The story of Kollidam Church Cluster

Christian witness in the Kollidam region has developed through generations of missionary work, local congregational commitment and service to the community. The area’s Christian beginnings are linked with the ministry of Rev. Christian Samuel John Kollhoff, and its history tells of the growth of congregations, worship facilities and church organisation in the region.

Early Missionary Work

Rev. Christian Samuel John Kollhoff ministered in the Tiruchirappalli region during the early 1840s. His work helped to introduce Christian teaching to local communities and supported the development of worship and fellowship. Irungalur and the wider mission’s work among local families are also part of this story.

Formation and Development

Christian ministry in the Kollidam area grew through the efforts of clergy, church workers and members of the congregations. In 2018, the Kollidam church cluster was organised as a distinct ministry unit. The following years brought further coordination of congregations and ministry activities, strengthening the shared life of the churches in the area. A period of organisational development and ministry activity followed from 1 January to 30 September 2020, and a further congregational milestone on 18 October 2020.

Congregational Life and Community Service

The churches associated with the cluster have continued to support worship, fellowship and community engagement. Local congregations and church leaders have contributed to sustaining Christian ministry and encouraging the growth of the Church in the region.

A Continuing Witness

The story of the Kollidam church cluster reflects the continuing partnership between clergy and congregations. Its heritage offers a foundation for carrying forward Christian faith, service and fellowship among present and future generations.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship.”
Acts 2:42
